Social networks are becoming more walled off, as evidenced by changes to the Instagram and Facebook platforms in recent years, as well as the emergence of TikTok's popularity. What this means for the brand marketer is that individual social networks can no longer be the centerpiece of an influencer strategy. As with the demise of Instagram Likes, no single platform can be trusted to maintain your best interests or even influencers' best interests.

Therefore, an important strategy in 2020 will be to focus on "full-stack influencers", or influencers who operate across all the popular social networks as well as their own blog.

Influencer marketing, social media marketing, and content marketing are often separate divisions of a brand's marketing department. Expect to see this change in 2020 as marketing efforts become more blended. This creates a problem for reporting, as the lines of attribution become more blurred. Likes are going away this year, but there are still lots of metrics to pay attention to when designing and executing your influencer marketing strategy.

The social media landscape is always changing. Every year, demographics shift to new platforms, usage patterns, and trends. What worked last year won't necessarily work this year. It's therefore essential for brand marketers to stay on top of the shifting landscape, predict where the next year will take us, and follow the trends because that's where the audiences are.

5 Influencer Strategies- Develop Advocates Don't Buy Influencers

Recent years have seen an influencer marketing boom. Along with the increased demand by brands and agencies for influencer marketing solutions, we've also seen the number of influencer marketplaces and databases dramatically increase.

There's a problem with the way the industry is trending, however: influencers now have very little loyalty to individual brands. When brands can sign up for one of a thousand different influencer databases and swipe a credit card, they get an influencer who's playing the field -- someone who works for both Coca Cola and Pepsi, for instance. Alternatively, brands may get a first-time influencer from an unvetted database and feel a sense of buyer's remorse.

Summer Friday Happy Hour

Community is at the core of any successful blog or social media strategy. After all, what really drives clicks, comments and shares? It's the viewer feeling connected to the content creator, and wanting to participate in and share that experience. Content creators aren't just in a community with their audience, however, they're also in a community with each other. We frequently see Tidal influencers commenting on each other's posts, tagging and linking to each other - and even suggesting each other for brand partnerships! So, with a trip to San Francisco on the calendar, we knew we wanted to connect with our own influencer community in the Bay Area. We partnered with Julia Lam, a former Facebook product manager and the founder of Tara & Co, on our influencer community event - a Summer Friday Happy Hour.
