New York Fashion Week Happy Hour

At Tidal, we are focused on building an engaged community of content creators and brands in our network. To drive quality content, influencers need to be able to share positive brand experiences and create authentic connections to their audience.

By hosting community engagement events, we are able to bring all different parties into the same room, giving influencers those opportunities to meet one another as well as other brands. These introductions can often grow into long-lasting, positive relationships, reinforcing the strong and supportive community that already exists. With everyone in town for New York Fashion Week, we thought it would be the perfect occasion to host a happy hour in our SoHo office. Conversation (and wine) was flowing throughout the night and we really enjoyed connecting with everyone.

Influencer Community Event in San Francisco

Summer Friday Happy Hour

Community is at the core of any successful blog or social media strategy. After all, what really drives clicks, comments and shares? It's the viewer feeling connected to the content creator, and wanting to participate in and share that experience. Content creators aren't just in a community with their audience, however, they're also in a community with each other. We frequently see Tidal influencers commenting on each other's posts, tagging and linking to each other - and even suggesting each other for brand partnerships! So, with a trip to San Francisco on the calendar, we knew we wanted to connect with our own influencer community in the Bay Area. We partnered with Julia Lam, a former Facebook product manager and the founder of Tara & Co, on our influencer community event - a Summer Friday Happy Hour.

Last week we attended the two-day CMX Summit, and with a weekend to digest, we’re ready to share the awesome insights gathered in those two days. The lasting lessons of the summit were clear: focus on your audience’s needs, cultivate in-person relationships, and stay curious. Speakers from a number of highly esteemed companies—like Buzzfeed, Etsy, Kickstarter and Meetup—shared their personal stories of harnessing a brand’s community.

A repeated lesson of the event was to deliver what your community wants and make it work for your business goals. “Community is putting other people in the driver’s seat,” said Laura Perkins, CEO of Perks Consulting. Each company needs to discover how to “align company objectives with what your community wants.”
